BLDTRU is a marketplace for handmade, custom, and small-batch work. Because many items are created individually by independent makers, returns work differently than on mass-production retail sites.

This policy explains when returns are allowed, how to request one, and the responsibilities of both buyers and makers.

1. When You Can Return an Item

You may be eligible to return an item if any of the following apply:

  • The item arrived damaged or defective.
  • The item you received is significantly different from the listing photos or description.
  • You received the wrong item.
  • The maker approved a return request in writing through BLDTRU messaging or support.

All return requests must be submitted through the BLDTRU Dispute Center to ensure proper documentation and protection.

2. Items That Cannot Be Returned

Because many products on BLDTRU are custom-made or created on demand, the following items are not returnable unless they arrive damaged, defective, or materially incorrect:

  • Custom or personalized items
  • Digital files or downloadable products
  • Made-to-order items already in production
  • Used, altered, or worn items
  • Items returned without authorization
  • Final-sale or clearance items

3. Return Window

Return requests must be submitted within 7 days of delivery. Requests made after this window may not be accepted unless unusual circumstances apply.

4. How the Return Process Works

Once your return request is approved:

  1. You will receive return instructions, including the proper return address.
  2. Items must be shipped back within 5 business days of approval.
  3. You must use a tracked shipping method and upload the tracking number.
  4. The item must be returned in its original or equivalent packaging.
  5. Once the maker confirms receipt and inspects the item, the refund will be processed.

5. Return Shipping Costs

Unless the return is due to a mistake by the maker (wrong item, damaged item, incorrect listing), the buyer may be responsible for return shipping costs.

6. Condition of Returned Items

Returned items must be:

  • Unworn, unused, and unaltered
  • Free of odors, stains, and damage
  • Returned with all accessories, components, and packaging

Makers reserve the right to decline a refund if the item is returned in a condition inconsistent with the policy above.

7. Items Damaged During Return Shipping

If an item is damaged while being returned to the maker due to poor packaging or improper handling, the buyer may be responsible. Always repackage returns securely.

8. Unauthorized Returns

Items returned without prior approval through BLDTRU may not be eligible for refunds and may be refused or returned to sender.

9. Final Determinations

BLDTRU reviews all disputes and return claims to ensure fairness to both buyers and makers. All final decisions are made by BLDTRU after reviewing evidence and communications.
